Dear Pastor,
My name is Holly Willoughby, founder of The Maker’s Child (TMC). TMC is a ministry you may have heard of recently in connection with an all-inclusive playground for which we have been planning and fundraising for the past year. The Lord has generously provided the funds for this unique project, and we hope to open this spring and we will welcome children and adults with special needs to play on equipment specifically designed to accommodate those with mobility difficulties. You may have also heard of our respite ministry during which we provide a monthly break for caregivers on the second Friday of each month. We are currently serving over 100 families and will be hosted by 7 churches in Marshall County in 2024 as we complete our 10th year of providing respite ministry.
TMC all began in 2013 as a ministry serving children and adults with special needs during church worship services. TMC classes offer families the opportunity to plug into local churches for the much-needed love and support that only a church family can provide. Families with disabilities are one the most underserved in the church community and we hope to change that for all of Marshall County and beyond. The Maker’s Child name and ministry is based on Psalm 139: 13-14. We want all individuals to know that God is their Creator and that He made each of us unique and for a special purpose.
My purpose in writing to you is to extend our ministry by assisting any church with the desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus to families that have the added stress of caring for a child or adult with special needs. We are happy to offer our help by training volunteers and by providing supplies and guidance along the way. We will be hosting a community interest meeting for any church in Marshall County who desires to hear more about what a ministry of this kind could mean to your church on May 19th, 2024 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Albertville.
